Catherine Charest holds a master's degree in anthropology and a master's degree in college education from Université Laval.
During her studies, Catherine worked on subjects like identity and indigenous' claims. Her second master's degree focused on issues of access to post-secondary education for First Nations students. Following her studies, she worked for two years at the Regroupement des Centres d'amitié autochtones du Québec (RCAAQ) as a knowledge mobilization advisor. She has mainly worked in research and focused on the themes of education, access to housing and the definition of the concepts of urban Indigeneity and urban Indigenous community.
