The Nunavik Research Centre was created in 1978 after the signing of the James Bay & Northern Quebec Agreement initially to monitor and collect land use & ecological data in the Nunavik region. The Nunavik Research Centre is operated under the Department of Environment, Wildlife & Research of Makivik Corporation.
